Dr. M. Ramesh, Director of B.E.S.T. Indtitiute& Research Centre, was invited to associate with SGPGI Lucknow. During the international workshop that was going on at Lucknow. Dr. Ramesh performed two laparoscopic adrenalectomies, one for phaeochromocytoma and another by retroperitoneoscopy at A.V. Hospital were transmitted to Lucknow and were also streamed to Cuttack with live interaction with surgeons in the other two nodes, using ISDN lines. This is the first ever telesurgery that took place in India.
